Allan Robinson Appeal Date Set

Licensed jockey Allan Robinson's appeal against a three month suspension will be heard by the Appeal Panel at 9.30am on Thursday, 3rd August 2006.

On Wednesday, 19th July 2006, Racing NSW Stewards heard a charge issued under AR135(b) and (c) against licensed jockey Allan Robinson in that as the rider of Silent Song in the Bamford Associates Lawyers Handicap at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday, 17th June 2006, after making use of his mount to cross Palabiro prior to the 600m, he did not give Silent Song full opportunity to win or obtain the best possible placing in the field by riding that mare along after passing the 600m, which resulted in Silent Song weakening over the final 200 metres to finish in sixth place when it was reasonable and permissible for him to have delayed placing Silent Song under pressure and delayed making such an extended run.

Further evidence was taken on Wednesday, 19th July from Allan Robinson and from Racing NSW Betting Steward, Terry Griffin. Videos of recent race starts of Silent Song were entered into evidence.

After giving consideration to all the evidence pertaining to the particular charge, Allan Robinson was found guilty of the breach of AR135(b).

In considering penalty, Stewards noted that Allan Robinson had two prior offences under the same rule, and after taking into account all the relevant circumstances they issued a suspension of his licence to ride in races for a period of three months, the commencement of such penalty being stayed until 27th July 2006.

Consequently, A. W. Robinson will be eligible to resume riding on 27th October 2006.
