Martin cops $2000 fine

Racing NSW stewards yesterday fined trainer Tim Martin $2000 after he pleaded guilty to an improper conduct charge resulting from a call to Sydney radio station 2KY on Tuesday.

Stewards charged Martin under racing rule AR175 (q) - Any person who in the opinion of Stewards is guilty of any misconduct, improper conduct or unseemly behaviour.

Martin originally called the station to air his side of the story accusing The Daily Telegraph journalist Christian Nicolussi.of sensationalizing his articles with lies when reporting about the recent Interfere Inquiry.

Martin told stewards yesterday that he had apologized to Nicolussi verbally and tendered a written, unreserved apology he had also forwarded to the journalist after making disparaging remarks about him on radio.
