Sydney jockey Zac Purton rode a treble at Randwick yesterday to celebrate his win at the appeals tribunal on Friday.
The former Queensland hoop was originally outed for two months for his ride aboard Clang Fashion on Wednesday, 14th June at Canterbury but had his suspension reduced by half on appeal.
Purton was originally found guilty of an offence under AR135(b) and (c), which states:
AR 135 . (b) The rider of every horse shall take all reasonable and permissible measures throughout the race to ensure that his horse is given full opportunity to win or to obtain the best possible place in the field.
(c) Any person who in the opinion of the Stewards has breached, or was a party to breaching, any portion of this Rule may be punished, and the horse concerned may be disqualified.
Stewards found Purton failed to take all reasonable and permissible measures throughout the race to ensure that Clang Fashion was given full opportunity to win or obtain the best possible place in the field.
Allan Robinson is facing the same charge for his ride aboard the John Hawkes trained Silent Song in a race won by the stablemate Contrasts.
