Rocking On wins Grafton Cup

The Gai Waterhouse trained Rocking On took out the $160,000 Group 3 Grafton Cup yesterday with jockey James Innes aboard.

The five-year-old Zabeel gelding enjoyed a perfect trip throughout before peeling off the back of the well fancied LeBron at the 150metre mark to stake his claim for victory.

Rocking On hit the line best with LeBron weakening to finish fourth. Rocking On scored by a long neck from Gaze On with Victory Charm a further short head away in third place.

LeBron was the only one you wanted to be on in running with Larry Cassidy giving the Jack Denham trained galloper the run of the race before claiming the leaders as the cup field turned for home.

No sooner was LeBron being hailed the winner, Rocking On peeled off his back to issue a challenge.
