Super Elegant heads a small but select field of eight horses who will line up in today's final black-type event of the 2005/06 season in Victoria.
The Brian Mayfield-Smith trained two-year-old Due Sasso heads the betting for the Listed $100,000 Sir John Monash Stakes (1100m), run at Caulfield.
Super Elegant, the eight-year-old by Mister C is being prepared by Geelong trainer Kelvin Bourke as he attempts to bring up a hat-trick of wins having won the feature sprint in both 2004 and 2005 when trained by Tony Vasil.
The classy Due Sasso has history against him in his quest for a first up win. Just five two year olds have run in the race since it became a weight-for-age event in 1994. Follow Gold produced the best finish when sixth in 1998.
